What we think of the Disney PhotoPass Memory Maker

Hey Everybody!

I hope you've been getting your dose of Vitamin D(isney)! If you're anything like us, you're itching to plan your next trip it Disney World. The whole process can be overwhelming and the extra add-ons they offer at check out can be confusing. What is actually worth the extra money? Will it add something valuable to our overall experience?

Well when we were planning our trip in 2016, we decided to purchase one of these add-ons. We purchased the Disney PhotoPass Memory Maker and here are the deets:

The Memory Maker option adds $169.00 to your overall vacation price. It sounds super pricey but if you like having pictures and lack the photography skills that will result in nice pictures (like me) then this is ABSOLUTELY worth it. The way it works is that you make the purchase then you link the item to your magic band (or park ticket if you didn't get a magic band). Then everything else works like magic 🎇 you get immediate access to photos from the parks! This was the coolest thing! So our trip to Disney in 2016 was our first experience with Magic Bands and WOW! Combined with the Memory Maker, we were in awe! My husband is an engineer and very analytic so of course, he was trying to figure out the logistics of the bands. He even asked a cast member at Be Our Guest how they tracked us with the magic bands to give us our food; to which she answered "It's Magic" which made me smile so big.

So back to the Memory Maker, all the photos that are taken of you in the park get uploaded to your account where you can view them ~almost~ instantly. My favorite part of that was you get access to pictures from rides! And for most of them, you didn't have to scan your magic band! Which albeit was cool and creepy at the same time! I will say it did give us a piece of mind that we would get our pictures no matter what! It gave us beautiful pictures like the one below! I feel like it is advertisement worthy!

Not only do you get pictures from the parks but you also get pictures from select dining experiences. We ate at Chef Mickey's and the pictures turned out so cute! Plus it was so nice to have a cast member take our picture at the start of dinner because all of my pictures from the rest of the night turned out blurry.

Chef Mickey's!

The only downside of the Memory Maker that we experienced was that we also got pictures of wonderful strangers mixed in with ours!
Exhibit A: If anyone knows these lovely people please share this with them!
We have many pictures like this from our 2016 trip, each of them lovely in their own way! It is kind of fun seeing all the good times' people were sharing together at Disney but I also feel kind of creepy having these pictures!

Exhibit B: This one MAY be my favorite but that is mainly because I LOVE Tower of Terror!

They may have worked out these kinks, I am not sure since we did not get it for our last trip to Disney. However, even if they didn't I would highly recommend purchasing the Memory Maker for at least one of your magical trips! It was so user-friendly and low-maintenance! You don't have to spend your magical days worrying about capturing the memories all by yourself! The Memory Maker mostly takes care of all of it! The memories it will capture are worth every single penny spent on it!
